Double Drawer Dishwasher: More Than The Usual

A double drawer dishwasher undoubtedly stands out from the rest because of its unique configuration style. It has the same basic features of a conventional dishwasher, but is more efficient because of its two separate washing compartments. There’s really no rush to replace your old unit. But when it’s high time to buy a new one, a double dishwasher is certainly a worthy candidate.

When it comes to the basic features, a double drawer dishwasher doesn’t differ much from a traditional built-in undercounter dishwasher. It also has water heating devices, sound-dampening insulation materials, a built-in food disposer, and so on. The only difference is that this gives you more flexibility because you have two individual washing compartments (upper and bottom racks) to work with. You can operate the two either at the same time or separately—it’s practically your choice.

Two drawer dishwashers are also well-capable of saving you energy and money. How? Well, it gives you the option to use either one of the compartments. So on regular days—meaning there’s not much dishes to clean—you can just use the top compartment, and let the other one rest. In that way, consumption of water and electricity is significantly reduced.

Your dinnerware and cookware is not all created equal. Certain types of dishes will definitely require different modes of washing. If you have a fine China dinner set at home, it’s a big no-no to put it on rigorous scrubbing and scouring (a gentle wash is the more appropriate option). Two drawer dishwashers give you the option of cleaning two different kinds of dishes using separate washing cycles to protect them from damages.

Will this dishwasher type be able to accommodate large or asymmetrical utensils? The answer to the question is “Yes”. But you still have to take full inventory of all the dishes and utensils you use most of the time. In that way, you’ll have some idea on what rack design your double drawer dishwasher should have in order to fulfill your needs.

There are plenty of popular manufacturers out on the market today. You have Kenmore, GE, Kitchen Aid, hotpoint, and Bosch. But of course, you can’t just rely on the brand name to assess the quality of the product. Yes, it’s tiring, but researching and information gathering are still the best ways to come up with your own list of dishwashers that are worth purchasing. You can do this by reading online customer reviews, or you could also ask your friends or relatives for their recommendations.

Today, the prices for 2-drawer dishwashers would normally range from $879-$1,300. These are not exactly called cheap, but there are certainly other ways to buy these at a lower cost. You could always scout the internet for great online deals (e.g. free shipping or discount coupons). Or you can keep your ears open for clearance sales on major double drawer dishwasher brands from your national or local appliance stores.
